I am a curious person at heart — drawn to how systems behave, how meaning emerges, and how people navigate complexity when the rules are unclear.
That curiosity has consistently expressed itself through practice: understanding systems not only as technical artefacts, but as living arrangements of structure, uncertainty, and human judgment.
Over the past 25 years, this has taken practical form through work in software engineering, product architecture, interactive media, healthcare, education, and research. I design and scale systems — technical, organisational, and conceptual — that must operate under real constraints, where clarity matters more than certainty.
Professionally, I’ve worked with founders, CTOs, and leadership teams to translate vision into executable systems, supporting both delivery and decision-making in complex environments. Alongside this, my work as an executive coach focuses on helping individuals and teams develop clarity, presence, and coherence when pressure, ambiguity, and responsibility are unavoidable.
Alongside my professional work, I maintain a long-running independent research practice focused on how complex systems produce meaning and guide decision-making. This work began in the early 2000s through experiments in media and the digital economy, and today informs my practical thinking around system design, governance, and long-term technological evolution.
Systems Architect
I provide fractional CTO and systems-architecture support to founders and high-growth teams navigating technical complexity. My focus is on platform scaling, resilient system design, and decision-making under uncertainty.
I work closely with leadership teams to translate vision into executable systems, covering full system design and hands-on implementation where required. This includes platform architecture, end-to-end code and system development, operational automation, internal tooling, technical compliance and documentation, and the definition of effective ways of working across engineering and product teams.
My work often spans architecture design, delivery oversight, R&D structuring, staff enablement, and direct support to CTOs and technical leaders. The approach is systems-first and execution-driven, designed to create clarity, resilience, and momentum in environments where constraints, regulation, and scale are real.
Executive Coach
I work with founders, CTOs, and leadership teams to develop clarity, presence, and coherence while operating inside complex, high-pressure environments. My coaching focuses on vision alignment, delivery under real constraints, and the cultivation of emotionally intelligent organisational cultures.
In practice, this means supporting leaders and teams through concrete situations such as organisational change, delivery pressure, role transitions, and strategic decision-making under uncertainty. The focus is on improving judgement, communication, prioritisation, and execution — ensuring decisions are made deliberately, aligned with constraints, and translated into consistent action across the organisation.
Independent Researcher
I maintain an independent research programme examining how systems — technical, cultural, and organisational — structure decision-making and knowledge over time. The work is exploratory and cross-disciplinary, informing my professional practice rather than operating as a standalone academic pursuit.
Outputs include written work, conceptual frameworks, and practical models that support clearer thinking about complexity, structure, and long-term system behaviour.
